Axelent Engineering sponsors racing talent Eddie Ramirez Eriksson
Axelent Engineering is sponsoring the young racing talent Eddie Ramirez Eriksson, who at the age of 15 has won most of what can be won. Yesterday Eddie participated in a sponsor race, where among others Johan Olsson, automation engineer from Axelent Engineering was competing in gocart. In connection with this, we took the opportunity to do a small interview with the promising talent.
– My name is Eddie Ramirez Eriksson, I am 15 years old and live in Värnamo. I started go-karting when I was seven years old. My dad promised me that if I won, he would buy me a go-kart the same day, and so he did. Since then, it’s been a steady journey. At the age of eleven, I started driving a real car. Then it was a bit challenging to reach the pedals, there were many cushions behind my back and so on,” laughs Eddie.
Now Eddie is 15 years old and competes in the Madrid championship SMC Renault Clio Cup, where he is already champion in 2022 despite the fact that there is still one race in November.
– “I can already say that I have won that cup. I’m very proud of that, not many 15-year-olds have managed to do that.
Eddie drives a Renault Cleo model 3 for KAK (Kunglia Automobila Klubben), and has done so for two years. When you drive internationally, they help with the travel, like in my case down to Spain.
Eddie has also participated in the Scandinavian Kartway Race League district championships in Sweden, which he won this year.
– “My dad has always been there to push me. He has always liked motorsport even though he never had the opportunity to drive himself in Spain. He is originally from Gran Canaria.
Something that makes it a bit challenging is that he doesn’t have a racing car here in Sweden. Therefore, Eddie drives with a simulator at home which is probably as close to reality as you can get without driving a car, he explains. “Cornering is like in real life, it is the feeling of speeds up to 200 km/h that cannot be simulated in the same way. So a racing car is something he hopes to have in the future.
After the last race in Spain in November, his sights are set on rallying next year. “Everything is prepared with car and equipment, now I just have to wait for the right age as you have to be 16 years old to drive.
– My goal for the future is to drive STCC or rally at a high level.
Eddie says that the best thing about the sport is the community and the speed, it’s fun.
